Connective Tissue Graft

This illustrates recession advancing past the patients gum line. If left untreated, this tooth would eventually be lost. A connective tissue graft increases the amount of gum to strengthen the tooth.

The smile revealed a longer canine on the left side. A connective tissue graft is able to cover the root so that the gum margins are symmetrical.

Connective Tissue Graft

A patient who had recession on two teeth underwent a cosmetic tissue graft in order to cover up the exposed root. Covering the root decreases the chances of tooth sensitivity and susceptibility to cavities.

Free Gingival Graft

Free gingival graft was used in order to replace the lip tissue attaching to the tooth to a more healthier and stronger gum tissue.

Patients are sometimes born with thin gum tissue that can recede during normal brushing habits. A free gingival graft is used to thicken the gum tissue over the tooth preventing further recession.

Cosmetic Gingivectomy

Orthodontic treatment can create uneveness of the gum levels on individual teeth. A simple procedure, which usually requires no stitches, can be performed to even the gum levels. This procedure is usually performed before braces are removed so that the orthodontist can do the final tooth movement to create the perfect smile.

Cosmetic Recontouring of the Gums

Sometimes after orthodontic treatment (braces), gums can take on another shape. Recontouring your gums to a more ideal architecture can provide the "finishing touch" necessary in order to restore your natural smile.

Esthetic Crown Lengthening

beforeAfter beforeAfter

Patients with a "gummy smile" can undergo esthetic crown lengthening which increases the length of the teeth. This will give the final restoration (veneers or crowns) the proper proportion to obtain an esthetically pleasing smile.

Dental Implant

This is a Dental Implant replacing an upper left front tooth. Notice how the gums are uniform on both the natural and implant tooth. This is important in order to make the implant tooth look natural.

Dental Implants

A dental implant was used to replace the patients upper left canine. Because the tooth became missing early in life, it became imperative to maintain the patients bone. By placing a dental implant instead of a bridge, bone can adhere to the implant, preventing the bone from shrinking.

This illustrates the sequence of a dental implant being utilized to replace a missing tooth. The first step is to place the implant in an optimal position. Next, the general dentist will attach the abutment (the metal post the crown is cemented to). Finally, your crown will be cemented in place. With the dental implant being placed in the optimal position, the tooth will look natural.

Three implants were placed to replace missing teeth in the upper left area. These implants provide function as well as esthetics. This allowed the patient to avoid a removable partial denture.

This implant is replacing a back tooth. It is important to fill in a missing tooth so that the adjacent teeth do not begin to shift. By using a single implant, the adjacent teeth were left in their natural state as your dentist did not have to grind down the teeth to accomodate a dental bridge.

Implant supported Maxillary Denture

Implants can also be used to give retention to an upper denture. Implants can assist in preserving bone throughout your life by preventing the bone from shrinking over time.

Implant supported Mandibular Denture

Lower dentures are usually loose and are difficult to adjust to. Implants can provide your denture with "anchors" to attach to, providing both retention and stability.
